Kitec pipes were typically installed in some homes between 1995 to 2007, they are prone to spontaneously burst. The brass fittings that connect kitec piping contain high amounts of zinc, which breaks down when exposed to moisture and oxygen is a process called dezincification.

Zinc oxide causes blockages in the piping, which results in bursts. We replace Kitec pipes with Uponor pex pipes. We have carried out more than 500 replacements in the GTA.
